HAC had the opportunity to have a meeting with the incoming Speaker of the House, Marco Rubio.

The meeting was set up by State Representative John Legg, and included HAC President Virginia Stevans, Vice President Chris Kowalczyk, Florida House of Representatives Legislative Analyst, Trip Aukeman. HAC was able to present the 15,000 signed petitions that will accompany the incoming Speaker of the House Marco Rubio to the Legislature (HAC will also provide him with more signed petitions at the end of our petition drive). We are proud that we have accomplished a major goal of getting our voice heard and our petitions delivered. This is a victory for the people if Florida.

As the Speaker of the House, Mr. Rubio has offered to work with HAC in our efforts to lower insurance premiums. He has promised not only to stay in contact with us but also to share ideas. Although we have differing opinions on some solutions he has offered to investigate solutions we suggested and we have offered to do the same for him. He spoke on lowering re-insurance and freezing current rate increases and we expressed that a belief in the anti Cherry-picking policy, Closing the loopholes in Citizens, doing way with the “Speed to Market Initiative” and abolishing the law that Citizens must be 20% higher than the highest insurance. We felt he was responsive to the need for lower premiums for not only homeowners but businesses also. We look forward to trading more information with him in the future.

HAC is still committed to being non-partisan and non-political and will not back any party of politician however we are willing to work with anyone who is committed to lowering insurance premiums in the state of Florida.
